* Finishing Lorelei.
* Re-discovering Karabella Zodiac in my stash.
* Wanting to knit with my new Knit Picks circulars.
* Finding a stitch pattern that inspired.
* Needing a white summer tank and not finding a pattern I want to knit.
What do we have here?

I LOVE Karabella Zodiac - a fabulous worsted weight mercerized cotton. I got mine at kpixie.
Some Design Notes
* Bust darts via short rows. Why? B00bage might pull the back straps to the front. I need them to lay flat in back.
* Bottom-up in-the-round. Why? I want to do my fave technique of short-rows/3-needle-BO for the shoulders. I don't know how to achieve that for top-down. I am sure there is a way.
* Single-eyelet rib for the bottom. Why? This specific stitch pattern can be rewritten in-the-round b/c the odd rows are just knit and purl. No funky YOs or k2tog tbl on the wrong side.
In case you are wondering how I could possibly wear something like this sans undergarments, you need to check out NuBra Featherlite. It's a lightly padded self-adhesive bra. I purchased mine from a local boutique and have used it several times already and it works great. You can buy directly from NuBra.

That's all I've got. I can't wait to see it!
Love it! That's such a cute stitch.
Love your design notes! I think we started knitting about the same time but I'm nowhere close to designing something!
That looks like it's going to be a lovely design. I can't wait to see your progress.

have you seen the new knitty??? there are some sexy summer tops....
Cute top but isn't worsted weight cotton in summer HOT??
To reverse engineer short row shoulders with a 3 needle bind off from the top down:
cast on using waste yarn (single crochet OVER your needle with the waste yarn and knit into each crochet "loop" leaving a tail at least 4 x the width of the shoulders. Increase to the # of stitches you need using short rows (just as you would decrease if you're knitting bottom up) and then continue on with the rest of your strap/top. When you're all finished unzip or pick out waste yarn from each strap (front and back) put the live stitches on 2 needles and use the long tail you started with to either graft the shoulders seamlessly or do a 3 needle bind off. Et Voila!
A bit much for a "comment" email me if you need me to elaborate or help :)
Wow! I can't wait to see your design progess! I love the sketches you've done.
I'm late to the game, but I figured I post anyway, just in case someone somewhere hasn't already shared this with you ...
short-row bust-darts are horizontal, not vertical. They add length, not width, so they would keep the waist and hem from riding up (and the back from riding down) but would not do anything about keeping the straps in back from pulling to the front. For that, add vertical bust-darts (aka "standard waist-shaping"), either below or both-above-and-below the bustpoint.
Great idea to blog your design notes! Thanks for sharing.
